The Society Research into Nicotine & Tobacco Conference (SRNT)
In 2006 the SRNT commissioned the Rees Group in Madison, WI to find a venue in Ireland, Scotland or London to host their 2008 international conference for up to 1200 delegates from all over the world.
The first of series of venue finding visits took place in 2006 when a delegation from the Rees Group visited Dublin, London and Edinburgh. The only venue at that time that could accommodate those numbers was City West on the outskirts of Dublin. We dress-rehearsed the site inspection with City West staff and on the day in question we spent a full day on site looking at every aspect of the facility.
We entertained the clients in Dublin that evening and they moved on to London and eventually Edinburgh.
The decision was made and Dublin was chosen. We set up the on-line registration, adding sign-up tour and excursion options and prepared the second site inspection visit. This time more detail was required and we, and City West, fulfilled all the clients’ needs and contracts were exchanged.
A visit to Madison, WI to meet new members of the Rees Group team who came in to handle this particular conference cemented communications and relations between Rees and WTG.
The selection of Ireland for a conference always creates a lot of interest and helps boost delegate attendance and SRNT 2008 was no exception.
Airport Meet & Greet Services, individual and pooled transfers, check-in, sound & light, production , breaks and meals, room change-around, speaker facilities all were handled to perfection and all delegates, partners, travel & conference staff departed Ireland totally satisfied with all arrangements.
