Larnjal

 

In keeping with its reputation for excellence, Quinta do Lago takes great pride in the opening of its new and third 18 hole championship course, Laranjal.
 
Laranjal, originally an orange grove, is today a beautiful and totally different golf experience. It is a sanctuary for those seeking the finest in golf and personalized service. Its narrow fairways and well defined greens require concentration and accuracy to navigate this testing route laid out on a rolling and distinctive terrain.

It is a par 72, 6,480 meters, with five par 5s, eight par 4s, five par 3s set amongst umbrella pines, cork-oaks and orange trees with a natural water course and 5 beautiful lakes.

The Old Course Golf in Vilamoura

 

This is the second oldest golf course in the Algarve it is affectionately known as the "Old   Course". The holes run through an umbrella pine forest and are laid out to take the best advantage of the natural contours of the contours of the land. The course is considered a typical example of the English style of course design. The first few holes are easy for the average player and with a reachable par-4s.

 

 

The very challenging par-3 on the attractive fourth is a "Hole in One" potential. However, good club selection from here is required and accuracy is necessary. The ninth is noted for its demanding play for most golfers. On the back nine there are three challenging par-5s and the sixteenth provides a 522 metre needing good length and accuracy in the shot. 

 

Pinheiros Altos Golf Course in Quinta do Lago - Almancil, Algarve

 

Pinheiros Altos course is considered one of the best courses along the Algarve and is located within the well-known Quinta do Lago resort. For most experienced golfers this course is known for its challenging strategically placed hazards. The fairways are generous and the outward nine-holes are played through attractive a pine forest. The back nine holes is when the play is more demanding and brings many water hazards into the game. A very attractive hole is the 17th with its peaceful inviting green which sits on an island surrounded by a lake.

 

 

Ocean Golf Course - Vale do Lobo, Almancil, Algarve - Portugal

 

This course is named the "Ocean Course" due to the many splendid ocean views enjoyed by players during their round. Many of its holes were part of the original Vale do Lobo Course which was one of the group of original courses that placed the Algarve on the map for golfers.The fairways tend to be narrow demanding an accurate shot when driving from the tee. The course wanders through pine trees with attractive views of the sea between the mature homes on the sides of the fairways.

 

 

Lisbon, Portugal

Oitavos Dunes Golf Course in Lisbon – Portugal

Located in the Natural Park situated between Cascais and the hills of Sintra, it is a course that has been designed to take advantage of its environment and the sea views through the pinewood forest surrounding the holes.  

Penha Longa Atlântico Golf Course in Lisbon - Portugal

The setting of the course can be considered as unique in comparison with most other courses in Portugal. Located in the parklands of what was originally a very wealthy 14th Century Monastery that has been very carefully restored. No expense appears to have been spared in creating this course and its surroundings that includes a residential development.

 

 

The topographical layout of the 18 holes is over gently wooded hills which adds to its overall beauty. The course offers interesting water hazards, some elevated greens and added to this is the challenge of the strong winds that some times occur. This course has to be played with respect for its architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. who has created a golf course that demands skill from most experienced golfers. The course has hosted the Portuguese Open and several important international events.

 

 

Quinta da Marinha Golf Course in Lisbon – Portugal

 

It seems there is a tendency when playing on Portuguese courses that the par-3 holes often prove to be the most challenging holes on the course - the Quinta da Marinha Course is no exception. The fifth hole is a good example with several protective bunkers surrounding an elevated green having made sure to carry the water. The fourteenth is another hole which is played over a steep bank that becomes an interesting challenge for a choice of club and style of stroke. The small tight greens on the course asks the player to be cautious in their approach shots. This course is often chosen for some Portuguese Golfing events.

Marbella

Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club

 

Los Arqueros Golf is a mixed course situated less than an hour from the international airports of Málaga and Gibraltar, and only 10 minutes from Marbella. It was the first golf course to be designed by Severiano Ballesteros. As the designer himself says, Los Arqueros is a good course for players of all kinds - a reasonable challenge for the average golfer and a tough test for professionals.
It is set among the mountains of the Sierra de Ronda, and has an original layout in beautiful surroundings.
Its prime location on the Costa del Sol makes this an ideal destination for a stress-free golfing holiday.

 



Real Club de Golf Guadalmina

 

Guadalmina offers two 18 holes golf courses and a par 3 nine holes golf course, a covered driving range for 40 players and a chipping and putting green.
 
Over these fifty years Real Club de Golf Guadalmina has hosted very important tournaments like the Spanish Championship in 1965 the qualifying school tournament for the European PGA in 1995 and 1996, or the PGA championship in 1998.
 
 In 2008 His Majesty Juan Carlos I King of Spain awarded Guadalmina with the Royal Appointment, fifty years of Golf, in a mature but always young and very friendly Club.

 



Los Naranjos Golf Course Marbella

 

Los Naranjos designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior in 1977.  In the summer 2009 major improvements were made on the golf course, the club now offers a complete, first class golfing establishment located in the famous “Golf Valley” of Marbella and just a few minutes from Puerto Banus.

 



Golf in Barcelona

Masia Bach Golf Club - Barcelona

 

Masia Bach Golf Course’ was designed by Jose Maria Olazabal and founded in 1990. This is a very demanding and tight course even for the best of golfers and is sure to prove a test of character; the shorter 9-hole course however is less demanding and a pleasant playing experience.
 
The highly rated Masia Bach Golf course is beautifully maintained and has hosted numerous professional tournaments including the 2007 Catalonia Ladies Masters, part of the Ladies European Tour.
 
Set on the border of the Penedes wine growing region, Masia Bach Golf Club commands some spectacular views of the Montserrat Mountain. It is advisable to use a buggy on this course as it is hilly and tiring for some.
 
Masia Bach Golf course is complemented with the 4 star Hotel which overlooks the 1st and 18th holes. The hotel is an ideal base to play golf at Masia Bach and also to visit Montserrat and the Penedes wine region.

 

 

Sitges Terramar Golf Club - Barcelona

 

The Sitges Terramar Golf Club is the second oldest in Catalonia, being founded in 1922 and designed by FW Hawtree, Manuel Piñero and Jim Fazio.
 
The microclimate of Sitges permits golf to be played in perfect conditions at any time of the year with beautiful views out over the Mediterranean from many holes.
 
The course is not particularly difficult but greens strategically placed and water hazards on many holes tend to make life more difficult on this all-together pleasant course.

 
The Sitges Terramar Golf Course has recently undergone some alteration work and counts on some superb putting surfaces.
 
During 2009 the Golf Terramar Sitges has also extended its clubhouse and facilities underwent significant improvement.
